I said: what about my eyes?
He said: Keep them on the road.
I said: What about my passion?
He said: Keep it burning.
I said: What about my heart?
He said: Tell me what you hold inside it?
I said: Pain and sorrow.
He said: Stay with it. The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”

About Jessie Mindfulness
Mindfulness Teacher and Educational Psychologist
Dr. Jessie CHOW
Welcome to Jessie Mindfulness!
I'm Jessie, and I'd like to share a bit about my journey with you.
I began my career as an educational psychologist, dedicated to supporting students, families, and teachers across various educational settings, including mainstream schools, schools focused on social development, and an NGO specializing in gifted education. My passion for education led me to the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where I worked as a teacher educator. There, I supported the growth and development of both pre-service and in-service teachers through an award-winning experiential learning curriculum.
Over the years, I have been honoured with several individual and team awards, including the prestigious Gold Award for Presence Learning at the QS Reimagine Education Awards in 2020. My research and fieldwork span areas such as design thinking, experiential learning, gifted education, intercultural competence, and social-emotional learning.

Why did I become a mindfulness teacher?
Mindfulness has been a transformative and nourishing practice in my life, guiding me to look within and find greater clarity and peace. Although some people might stereotype mindfulness as boring, I find it incredibly interesting and fun! This personal journey led me to join a Jockey Club project that supported schools to develop mindfulness practice and culture at the Faculty of Social Sciences, HKU. Through this initiative, I have had the privilege of sharing mindfulness with hundreds of participants, including students, school personnel, helping professionals and parents, fostering a culture of mindfulness in schools and in the wider community.
Now, through Jessie Mindfulness, I hope to share this wonderful and unique gift with more people. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, bring awareness to life, or connect to the inner wisdom of oneself, I'm here to accompany your mindfulness journey. These are some of the benefits of this co-learning journey together:
🌱 Cultivating present-moment awareness through mindfulness practices
🌱 Exploring how to maintain inner peace amidst a busy life and turbulent thoughts
🌱 Finding inner wisdom and kindness
Let's embark on a mindful journey together!

About Mindfulness
What is Mindfulness?
“Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention on purpose,
in the present moment non-judgmentally
in the service of self-understanding, wisdom, and compassion.”
-- Jon Kabat-Zinn
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and engaged in the current moment, being aware of our thoughts, bodily sensations, emotions, urges and surroundings without judgment, experiencing life as it unfolds moment by moment. This state of awareness helps us break free from the habitual, automatic patterns of our minds, allowing us to respond to situations with clarity and calmness rather than reacting impulsively. Mindfulness is a key tool in cultivating this awareness. It encourages us to pay close attention to our inner experiences and the world around us, fostering a deeper sense of connection and presence.
While the origins of mindfulness can be traced back to the philosophies and practices of various religions (including Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, Christianity, and Islam), its wisdom transcends religious boundaries and is fundamentally about the wisdom of living well. Modern mindfulness courses involve a structured approach to enhancing self-awareness and understanding.
Over the past few decades, extensive academic research and clinical applications have established mindfulness training as a significant field in the scientific study of psychotherapy and mental health. The effectiveness of mindfulness in promoting mental health is now well-supported by a substantial body of academic research and empirical evidence. Its benefits are not only observed in clinical populations but also in the general public, making mindfulness a valuable and well-established tool for enhancing mental and emotional well-being.
Neuroscientific studies have shown that regular mindfulness practice can lead to changes in brain regions associated with attention, emotional regulation, and self-awareness. These changes are linked to enhanced cognitive function, greater emotional resilience, and improved overall well-being. Furthermore, mindfulness fosters positive psychological traits such as increased empathy, compassion, and overall life satisfaction, promoting healthier interpersonal relationships and a greater sense of connectedness.
Modern-day mindfulness has successfully bridged the gap between its ancient origins and contemporary applications. The development of both secular and non-secular mindfulness practices and courses has made mindfulness accessible to a broad audience, supported by decades of academic research and empirical evidence. These programs have proven effective in promoting mental health and well-being, making mindfulness a vital resource for individuals seeking to improve their quality of life.
