Course Overview
This mindfulness course is based on the best-selling book “Finding Peace in a Frantic World” by Professor Mark Williams and Dr. Danny Penman. It is designed for those who are new to mindfulness or have tried mindfulness apps and are looking for a structured course led by an experienced teacher.
Spanning 8 sessions of 90 minutes each, this course offers an engaging and practical introduction to mindfulness. It is a suitable option if you have limited time or are seeking a less intensive refresher course compared to the 8-week Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L) program. Rooted in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), this course caters to a diverse audience, including the general public, workplace professionals, university students, and school teachers. It aims to enhance your mindfulness skills, improving your well-being and resilience to stress.
In this course, you will learn to:
Stabilize Attention: Recognize mind-wandering and “autopilot” and bring your attention back with interest, patience, and care.
Recognize Reactivity Patterns: Identify your reactivity patterns and understand how attempts to eliminate distress can keep you stuck.
Cultivate Kindness: Bring care and compassion to yourself during moments of distress and reactivity.
Respond Skilfully: Use mindfulness to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively, supporting your well-being and that of others.
Gain Perspective: Learn to “step back” from your direct experiences to see them more clearly and choose kinder responses.
Integrate Mindfulness: Incorporate what you have learned into your everyday life.
Course Structure Taught over 8 weeks by a highly experienced mindfulness teacher, this group-based course accommodates up to 16 participants. Each session covers various themes, including:
Waking Up to the Life You Have
Gathering the Scattered Mind
Relating Differently to Thoughts and Worries
Practicing Kindness
Exploring What Nourishes Us
What to Expect
Companions: Join a diverse group of participants who also hope to improve their quality of life through mindfulness.
Structured Sessions: Each of the 8 group sessions has its own theme and follows a consistent pattern.
Home Practice: You will be assigned practices to complete between sessions, featuring guided meditations and strategies for cultivating mindfulness in daily life.
Support Materials: Access to guided practices and written resources will be provided to enhance your learning throughout the course.
Embark on this enriching journey to cultivate mindfulness, improve your well-being, and find peace amidst the chaos of daily life.
Upon completing the course, you will receive: 🌿 A Certificate of Attendance 🌿 Lesson notes and resources 🌿 An opportunity to integrate mindfulness into your daily routine 🌿 A support network for continued practice
