Course Overview

The "Introducing Mindfulness" course is developed by the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation (OMF). This course is designed for beginners or those who have previously been introduced to mindfulness and wish to restart their practice. Over a systematic three-week period, you will learn core theories and practical techniques of mindfulness, bringing awareness and balance into daily life.

This course, delivered in weekly sessions, includes the exploration of three essential mindfulness themes designed to enhance daily life:

  1. Attention Training: Learn how to focus one’s attention and understand how this skill can fundamentally shape one’s experiences.

  2. New Ways of Being: Discover new approaches to living mindfully and explore how these may support you in different situations.

  3. Responding vs. Reacting: Recognize the difference between mindful responses and automatic reactions, and explore how this awareness can improve the quality of life.

Each of the 1-hour sessions combines theoretical learning, experiential mindfulness practices, practical application in daily life, and group discussions.

This structured course builds progressively, with each session deepening understanding based on the previous week's learning. Participants will also be encouraged to practise mindfulness at home to reinforce the themes of each session.

What to Expect

  • Companions: Join a diverse group of participants who also hope to improve their quality of life through mindfulness.

  • Guided Practices: Each session includes guided mindfulness practices, followed by guided discussions to reflect on the insights gained.

  • Personal Practice: Between sessions, you will be invited to dedicate 15-20 minutes daily to 'home practices', using guided recordings and integrating mindfulness into your everyday activities.

  • Practice Reviews: Sessions 2 and 3 will include reviews of your personal practice from the previous week to support your ongoing development.

  • Supporting Materials: Access guided practices and written materials to support your learning throughout the course.

Embark on this journey to cultivate mindfulness and bring a sense of balance and clarity into your everyday life. Upon completing the course, you will receive:

🌿 A Certificate of Attendance

🌿 Lesson notes and resources

🌿 An opportunity to find peace and awareness

🌿 Support network for continued practice

* Note that this is only a three-week introductory course, completing it does not qualify participants to become a mindfulness teacher or to enroll in advanced mindfulness courses. If needed, it is recommended to take an eight-week course, such as Mindfulness for Life (MBCT-L).
